As professor in medical physics at DCPT I am leading a research group that works on the interface towards DCPTs clinic. Our projects range from development of methods for image-guidance and adaptations in proton therapy, simulations of the biological effect of protons, and methods to measure proton dose (and related entities) in 3D. My group consists of postdocs, PhD students and master/bachelor students, and has close collaborations with medical physicists and MDs employed at DCPT.
My research interests include medical physics challenges in radiotherapy and in proton therapy, in particular related to image-guidance and treatment adaptations, studies of the biological effects of proton therapy and 3D measurements of proton therapy dose distributions and related quantities.
I am involved in the main European organisation for radiotherapy (ESTRO), and am a member of both the Physics Committee and the Scientific council of ESTRO. I have previously been an elected member of ESTROs board.
I am Editor-in-Chief of ESTROs journal Physics and Imaging in Radiation Oncology (phiRO).
