Fault recordings analyser

Grid resilience has become a critical priority as power systems face escalating challenges from extreme weather events, cyber-attacks, and the growing integration of renewable energy sources. These challenges underscore the importance of educating engineers with the necessary expertise in energy system protection to maintain a reliable and secure grid.

As part of the Energy System Protection course at Aarhus University, we have received support from Siemens to develop an educational test system that demonstrates how fault recordings can be used to analyse the causes of power system events, accurately locate faults, accelerate system restoration, and enhance the resilience of modern power systems. The platform will provide students with hands-on experience in interpreting disturbance data and applying protection engineering principles to real-world power system scenarios.
