Join us for ECE Research Day!
Curious about research in Electrical and Computer Engineering? Want to check out some exciting projects and maybe get inspired for your own semester, bachelor’s, or even master’s project?
Whether you're a first semester student and new to the world of electrical and computer engineering or in your final semester looking for inspiration, everyone is welcome! Stay the whole afternoon or just swing by for 5–10 minutes—explore the posters and demo stands from ECE's research groups, chat with people, and make sure to grab some snacks, cake, and soda while you’re here.
We’ve also invited former ECE students to share their journeys—how they got into research, what sparked their interest, and where it has taken them.
Date: March 26th 2025
Location: Building 5122 (Clarke) - Room 122
13.00 - 13.05 | Welcome Peter Gorm Larsen welcomes you to this semester's Research Day | Clarke (5122-122) |
13.05 - 13.10 | Introduction of Speakers Farshad Moradi will introduce three former ECE students, who will briefly share their journey from studying at ECE to pursuing careers in science and how it took them to their current jobs. | Clarke (5122-122) |
13.10 - 13.40 | ECE Alumni talks Rasmus Vestergaard obtained an MSc in Computer Engineering in 2018, followed by a PhD in 2021, both from Aarhus University. His research focused on data compression techniques. Since then, he has worked as a software engineer in the industry, contributing to various infrastructure projects. He spent 3.5 years at Uber, where he worked on highly scalable microservice build and deployment systems. Recently, he joined Databricks, one of the world’s fastest-growing tech companies, where he is involved in improving the infrastructure supporting global expansion Jaamac Hassan Hire is an Assistant Professor in the Integrated Nanoelectronics Group at Aarhus University. He received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Aarhus University in 2016 and 2018, respectively. From 2018 to 2019, he worked as a Research Engineer at FORCE Technology, Brøndby, Denmark. From 2019 to 2022, he pursued an industrial Ph.D. at FORCE Technology and Aarhus University, focusing on sensor and energy harvesting development. His research interests include sensors and transducers in both electronic and optical system configurations. His current work is dedicated to developing innovative and sustainable sensors for the early detection of corrosion in reinforced concrete. Mikkel Kirkegaard began his electrical engineering degree in 2018, continued to a master’s in computer engineering in 2022, and has just completed his first semester of an industrial PhD with Grundfos. Fascinated by the inner workings of electronics, he chose a Diploma in Engineering in electronics, during which he gained industry experience and developed a passion for IoT, low-level programming, and hardware/software interfaces. Unsatisfied with stopping at the bachelor’s level, he pursued a master’s degree in computer engineering, which fundamentally changed his way of thinking about problems. Now, in his PhD with Grundfos, he is exploring topics that interest him most while solving real-world problems with tangible impact.

13.45-16.00 | Poster session and demos Learn more about the exciting research happening at ECE through poster presentations and live demos. Here you can meet ECE researchers and explore how you can get involved in cutting-edge research. Does a particular poster or demo catch your eye? Then this is your chance to have a one-on-one conversation with the researcher, ask questions, and learn how you can be part of developing the technologies of tomorrow. | Clarke (5122-122) |
