Cardiovascular Instrumentation and Devices

The Cardiovascular Instrumentation and Devices research group is an experimental group based in CAVE-lab, which facilitates various in vitro experimental setups. The focus of the research group is to apply engineering principles and skills to understand the functional impact of various diseases, and to test, evaluate, and develop different cardiovascular prosthetic devices for use in surgical and interventional procedures. The research group therefore collaborates closely with cardiothoracic surgeons and interventional cardiologists from Aarhus University Hospital. Current activities include

  • Transcatheter valve performance
  • Impact of catheter based left atrial auricle occlusion
  • Aortic root repair
  • Development of valve tube grafts from extracellular matrix
