Objectives

Within ibrAIn, the following objectives have been defined:

  • Research and development of novel technologies for brain interfacing, which includes but not limited to implantable neural recording systems, wearable and implantable neuromodulation technologies (optical, electrical, and ultrasonic), closed-loop systems for treatment purposes (using drug-delivery or neuromodulations), ultra-low power chip design, MicroElectroMechanical systems (MEMS), energy harvesting mechanisms, novel sensors (e.g., spintronic sensors), signal processing and communication.
  • Research and development of novel brain-inspired computing systems such as CMOS-based spiking neuromorphic computing systems, neuromorphic computing using emerging technologies (e.g., spintronics) and so on.
  • Explore the feasibility of bringing novel AI hardware into the brain computing interface enabling energy-efficient brain computing leading to the development of novel BCIs.
