Healthcare technology – digital and technological solutions for the future of healthcare

In line with demographic changes and a growing need for prevention, early intervention, personalised treatments and coherent patient pathways, healthcare systems are facing significant challenges. Increasing demands are being placed on quality, accessibility and efficient use of resources in both the public and private parts of the healthcare sector.

Within health and biomedical technology, technological developments offer new opportunities to support healthcare systems and the healthcare industry. This includes technologies for prevention, diagnosis, treatment, monitoring and rehabilitation of patients and citizens with both acute and chronic diseases or disabilities.

In close collaboration with clinicians, companies and other research environments, we at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering work with the development and application of new technologies within the healthcare domain. The collaboration strengthens the translation of research-based technologies into practice and supports more coherent, efficient and sustainable healthcare solutions.
