Software Engineering & Computing Systems Section

The software engineering and computing systems section  performs teaching and conduct innovation & research in the systematic development of software taking its context into account. This ranges all the way from desktop computers over mobile devices to fully fledged system of systems and cyber-physical systems.

The employees provide courses on these topics in a long range of studies where the development of software is included. They are also involved in a long list of externally funded research and innovation projects and they are responsible for different facilities (centres, laboratories and software tool) accessible and used by a long list of stakeholders outside the section.

Both the educational activities as well as the innovation and research is targeting the development of high quality software using modern state-of-the-art tools including our own research results.

Themes

In our section we have decided not to organize ourselves in “research groups” as is common most places at universities. Instead, we have opted for a more dynamic structure where we have organized us in a collection of themes (focusing on both research and education) and each employee can then engage themselves in up to three themes that they have interests in. Below is a list of the current themes we operate.

  • Cyber-physical systems
  • Formal methods
  • Software architecture
  • Programming languages
  • Co-simulation and Digital twins
  • Development processes
  • Autonomous Intelligent Systems
  • Human-centric Computing
  • Back-end development
  • Innovation through technology
