Research Scope

The ear-EEG method is envisioned to allow unobtrusive monitoring of sensory perception and brain activity in real life based on a device with electrodes placed in or around the ear. To accomplish this, the device not only needs to be discreet, unobtrusive, user-friendly and have good user comfort, it also has to be able to monitor the brain activity of interest with a sufficient signal quality. 

To structure the description of the scope of the research activities it is divided into 4 main fields. In practice, however, there is no sharp division between the fields; and the scientific insight and the ingenious technical solutions are likely to be found by combining methods and solutions from the different fields.
