AI4SE1DK Human-centered adoption of Artificial Intelligence for Software Engineering in Denmark

The AI4SE1DK project will drive the human-centered adoption of Artificial Intelligence for Software Engineering (AI4SE) in Denmark, aligning with the nation’s digitalization and environmental sustainability goals. This strategic initiative addresses key societal challenges, enhances national competitiveness, and contributes to Denmark’s leadership in responsible AI integration.

Software engineering (SE) is core to enabling and maintaining Denmark’s digital future and supporting economic growth. SE has been radically impacted by Generative AI (GAI) due to GAI’s large growing potential to automate many SE tasks. However, when compared to global leaders, Denmark lags in adoption, innovation and investment. The purpose of the AI4SE1DK project is to close the adoption gap on AI for SE (AI4SE) by: 1) advancing AI4SE practices with a consortium of Danish software companies, RTOs, and academic institutions to align practices with Scandinavian team cultures and sustainability goals; 2) developing trustworthy AI-driven software development methods and tools enabling tailoring to the specific needs of Danish software companies, resulting in improved productivity and trustworthiness; 3) coordinating, in collaboration with an implementation board and based upon project outcomes, a comprehensive effort to adopt and integrate AI4SE in Denmark, reaching 10% of the Danish software industry. These goals will therefore address the diverse and specific needs of Danish companies and ensure alignment with industry standards and practices. The execution of this project will establish AI4SE as a cornerstone of Denmark’s digital economy, leadership in digital innovation, and national digital infrastructure; ultimately supporting Denmark’s national goals of digital transformation and sustainable economic growth.
