SpinChip:Ultra-low power sustainable spin chips: the missing brick for the future of EU Micro-electronics

Spintronics is an emerging field with the potential to drive future energy-efficient chip technologies. Unlike conventional electronics that use electric charges, spintronic devices leverage electron spins.

This technology promises high performance and ultra-low power
consumption, making it ideal for the growing of computing, particularly in AI. Spintronic devices can combine processing, logic, sensing and storage on a unified platform, advancing technologies such as neuromorphic electronics, quantum computing and energy harvesting, while contributing to low-carbon footprint goals. SPIN-CHIP aims to showcase the potential of magnetic tunnel junctions in the next generation of “made in EU” chips, significantly improving energy efficiency, sensitivity, speed, affordability, and cost-effectiveness.
